A plant-derived fatty alcohol from coconut or other vegetable oils oil — not the drying kind, despite the name. Thickens and stabilises the formula, and softens skin with a smooth, non-greasy finish. Works alongside Olivem 1000 to hold everything together.

Cetyl Alcohol

Xanthan Gum

It is a natural, fermented polysaccharide used primarily as a thickener, binder, and emulsion stabilizer in skincare. It drastically improves product texture, ensuring serums and creams glide smoothly, while forming a lightweight, hydrating barrier on the skin to prevent moisture loss.

Xanthan Gum

Lye (NaOH)

Lye is the essential catalyst that transforms fats and oils into soap through a chemical reaction called saponification. Without lye, oils and water would never bind together to form soap.
Our Cold Process Soaps are superfatted at 5%. No Lye remains in the final product.

Preservative Systems

Every product with water in it needs preserving — without it, you're growing things you don't want on your face. The question isn't whether a product is preserved. It's with what. We preserve to COSMOS natural-cosmetic standards. No parabens, no formaldehyde-releasers, no phenoxyethanol. The systems we use are chosen to keep each formula safe across its full shelf life — and to leave out the ingredients the "clean beauty" conversation keeps flagging. Nothing goes in to cut a corner. You'll find the exact system listed in full on every product's INCI. As always: ask us anything, and we'll tell you what's in it and why.

Sensicare Nat 2

A two-part system that keeps water-based formulas fresh across their shelf life — naturally derived triethyl citrate plus nature-identical, COSMOS-approved phenylpropanol. Protects the formula without parabens, formaldehyde-releasers or phenoxyethanol.
